Third Edition of Diner en Blanc Costa Rica coming this March

The third edition of the event Dîner en Blanc, Costa Rica will take place Saturday, March 18, the location of course still remainssecret and will be disclosed to the attending audience as the date approaches.

The traditional Dîner en Blanc was started by François Pasquier in 1988 in Paris, and since then has spread through different cities all around the globe; Amsterdam, Barcelona, Milan, Tokyo, Montreal, Chicago, Singapore, Boston, Mexico, Copenhagen, Los Angeles, among many others, the most recent of which is Panama City, which will host its first “chic picnic” this 2017.

The invitation-only event takes place in a public space, guests must dress all in white, and are expected to behave with elegance and decorum, Le Dîner en Blanc is about good taste, glamour, culture and enjoying a gourmet dinner in a historic location.

According to their website, the key rules of the event are:

Guests must be a member or be sponsored by a member from a previous year, otherwise you have to register in their waiting list to participate and patiently await the invitation.
Once confirmed, each guests’ participation becomes mandatory.

All guests arrive and depart together by chartered bus.

Guests must bring a picnic basket including white tablecloth and napkins, gourmet meal items, cutlery, dishware and glassware.

All participants must take their belonging with them at the end of the night including leftovers and trash.

Last year’s event took place at the Jardín de Paz, in front of the Metallic Building in downtown San Jose and it was estimated to gather close to 500 people.

The cost for attending guests is of $38.00 USD which covers the shuttle service and logistics.

Costa Rica’s organization has already sent the emails with the invitations, at this point all those that have received it can register online.
