According to local media outlets, the international restaurant Tony Roma’s has closed its doors in Costa Rica. Even though the sign on the door states that the restaurant is closed due to remodeling, the Ministry of Labor (MTSS) confirmed to local daily El Financiero that they have received 12 requests for conciliation from former workers who presented letters from the company informing them they were being let go due to the closure of the restaurant.

The US franchise opened doors in Costa Rica back in January 2000 and was operating in the country through the company Corporación Pirámide TR de Costa Rica S.A.

Just back in January, Applebee’s announced the closure of its three restaurants in Costa Rica due to profitability issues.

The closure of Tony Roma’s leaves at least 50 people without a job.
