Airbnb announced today the launching of its platform Experiences in Costa Rica, adding to the growing list of international destinations that offer local Experiences.

Costa Rica is the first country in Central America and the sixth destination in Latin America and the Caribbean after Habana, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Buenos Aires and Jamaica in being part of Experiences Airbnb.

The platform offers more than 50 unique experiences, activities designed and directed by local hosts that allow visitors to discover the communities in the most authentic way .

The hosts of Experiences not only share the Costa Rica that they know but also make money while they are doing this. Combined, the hosts of Airbnb Experiences around the world have warned approximately US$6 million to date.

Shawn Sullivan, Director of Public Policies for Central America and the Caribbean commented: “The launching of Experiences in Costa Rica invites foreign and local tourists to known and rediscover a destination in a very different way; from the hand of local entrepreneurs that want to share their passions, their favorite spots, family recipes, preferred dishes, and the Costa Rica they love.
