Sadly this is not the first time this happens and likely it won’t be the last, a tourist got lost at the Arenal Volcano National Park in Costa Rica, the alert was received by the authorities at around 6:37 p.m. on Saturday, March 10.

The tourist was able to communicate with his mobile phone and apparently got lost in the woods close to the trail known as “Coladas”.

According to the initial information received, the man is in good health conditions and had food and water with him.

After the alert, rescue teams from La Fortuna, San Carlos activated their search and rescue protocol, firemen, police officers, members of the National Emergency Commission (CNE) and park rangers coordinated to access the area.

The name and nationality of the tourist has not been disclosed yet.

Back in November 2017, a group of four tourists disregarded the warning signs and safety rules, and took one of the illegal improvised trails that lead to the crater of the Arenal Volcano, a small landslide caused injuries to two of the tourists, they were rescued several hours later by Costa Rican authorities.

Authorities at the park have closed clandestine trails, but adventure seekers continue to disregard the warnings and sometimes alone and other times with the help of locals, take the risk and end up in complicated situations, which cause others to have to risk their lives to save theirs.
