“All Costa Rica helped those affected by hurricane Otto, but the second part of the rescue is just beginning. This summer, visit Golfito, Corcovado or Tortuguero. Admire the Celeste River, enjoy the hot springs or the Guanacaste beaches, take a tour of the Maleku territory; buy beans from Upala and cacao from Bagaces, travel, rest, eat, have fun, and while you enjoy, help them get back on their feet.”
That’s the text of a campaign promoted by the Costa Rican Government and that hopes to attract tourism to the areas affected by Hurricane Otto, and with it, reactivate the economy.
The video and audio is now circulating in television, radio, movie theaters, web pages and social media.
The idea is that national and foreign tourist can enjoy these beautiful communities and at the same time contribute with the affected communities by buying their products.
This is just one of the adopted measures to reactivate the economy, also starting in January 2017 the Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT) will also carry out a special campaign to attract visitors thanks to the initiative “Vamos a Turistear” (Let’s travel).
To this we add the efforts done through state banks and the support given to micro-businesses, which have received 600 million colones in funds from ESS-Pronamype, to support small businesses of people in poverty conditions and 52 million colones more that have been given to the attention of 19 affected businesses.
