The Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) in Costa Rica confirmed the arrest of two Jamaican brothers suspects of fraud and wanted by the Interpol.

According to information released by OIJ the two men of last name Levy apparently setup a call center in Costa Rica to function as a sweepstake scam where the victims were elderly American citizens.

In total the victims were scammed closed to $350,000.00 USD.

“The suspects in appearance operated a call center in our country, from which they communicated with American citizens, mostly senior adults, and told they had won a cash prize but in order to receive the prize they had to first pay expenses such as taxes and fees through money transfer services. The victims would then make the requested payment and would never receive their cash prize” , explained the press release.

The men used a software that made it seem as though the call was originating from Washing D.C. and not Costa Rica.

One of the suspects was arrested in Ciudad Colón, San José and the other one in Alajuela
