Fight Network Press Release — Roman “Chocolatito” González, who’s the WBC flyweight champion, says HELLO to San Jose, Costa Rica establishing his training camp, determined to defend his crown against former champion Brian Viloria.
This fight will be on October 17th at Madison Square Garden in New York.
It will be one of the most important of Roman’s career, because Viloria is one of the most dangerous opponents that he has faced.
“I had already seen Viloria other times, but not close up like now. He looks like a good person, but I know he himself will come in great shape to fight a big fight … I think we can malke the best fight of the night,” boldly predicted Román, adding:
“I have a lot of confidence to win this fight by KO. My preparation has been good and I have to keep doing the right things to do my best when the bell rings.”
On his trip to Costa Rica, the manager of Gonzalez, Carlos Blandon, said the team will be led by the champion with his trainers Arnulfo Obando and Wilmer Hernandez.
“Chocolatito” Gonzalez has 43 wins with 37 knockouts and is unbeaten. Brian Viloria has 36 wins, 4 losses and 22 knockouts.
Gonzalez is from Nicaragua; he spends most of his time in Managua. Along with the legendary Alexis Arguello, he is considered to be one of the best fighters to come from Nicaragua, and he is champion in three weight categories.
Esteemed boxing magazine The Ring ranks Gonzalez at number two in the Pound-for-Pound category; he is only topped by Floyd Mayweather Jr., who recently retired as an undefeated champion.
