The government of the United Arab Emirates announced their decision to open an embassy in Costa Rica.

The announcement was made by Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to Costa Rican chancellor, Manuel Gonzalez Sanz, in an act of reciprocity since the Embassy of the Republic of Costa Rica was officially opened in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Currently, all paperwork related with this nation has to be processed through the diplomatic office in Lima, Peru.

“The gesture is an immediate response of reciprocity, the best testimony of the interest of the UAE and their desire of continuing the bilateral relations and taking them to new levels of interaction”, stated chancellor Gonzalez.

“We agreed to focus in this stage of the relations in promoting connectivity, tourism to and from both countries, commerce, investments and cooperation specially in the topic of renewable energy with the objective of generating better and more opportunities of wellness for both countries”.

So far, Costa Rica and the United Arab Emirates have subscribed five agreements.
