The National University (UNA) and the Latin America University of Science and Technology (ULACIT) have announced a series of activities to raise awareness and celebrate the rights of the LGBTI community.

ULACIT will kick off the activities with the conference by American activist John Corvino, author of the books Debating Same-Sex Marriage and What’s Wrong With Homosexuality?; scheduled for Wednesday, May 17 at 5 p.m. On May 18 they will offer another conference by AmCham (American Chamber of Commerce) titled “LGBTI Inclusion in the workplace: smart businesses and good values”, on how to create inclusive workspaces.

On May 22 it will be Karla Avelar, trans from El Salvador who will present her testimony “Persecution and impunity due to sexual preferences”.

The events at ULACIT will continue through June 1st with different conferences and workshops that will discuss the rights of the LGBTI community, society values, among others.

The UNA will promote love and respect through a Sexual Diversity caravan that will be carried out at both the campus in Sarapiquí and the main campus in Heredia.

Conferences and photo exhibits will begin this Monday, May 15 in Sarapiquí, while on Tuesday they will have a conference and workshop with families of LGBTI people in the Heredia campus. On Thursday the University will be carrying out free HIV tests and it will close the activities with a concert on May 26.
