After several days of very strong activity, the Poás Volcano in Costa Rica, has entered a period of relative calm, however, the volcano continues emanating gases and vapor, experts consider that under the current conditions more eruptions can be expected in a short term.

Strong evaporation is present at the lake, with vigorous sub-aquatic fumaroles, the tremor that had been consistent during the last few days lowered considerably as of yesterday; it now maintains a continuous low amplitude tremor. Small phreatic eruptions are still present. There are no reports of ash fall.

Experts continue with the necessary research and have been measuring the gases with the use of a drone. They also inspected the trail that connects the observation deck at the National Park with the Botos Lake, this allowed them to confirm that this trail received the impact of more than 100 rocks, an impact every 10 square meters; these rocks landed with a temperature of over 100⁰C (212⁰F) which caused the vegetation to burn, experts also calculate the speed, height, trajectory and energy that the fragments had at the time of the eruption with the purpose of evaluating possible risks.

The Turrialba Volcano, has a discontinuous low-amplitude and short duration seismic signal; it registers small and short eruptions with ash emissions; actually the activity in this volcano has been increasing in the last few days, with small explosions of gas and vapors as well as ash.

The Poás Volcano National Park remains closed for visitation, while the Turrialba National Park is open but access to the areas close to the crater are closed for security reasons.
