US Citizen Detained at Juan Santamaria Airport in Costa Rica Suspected of Drug Trafficking

Drug Control Police Officers of the Ministry of Public Security in Costa Rica detained a US citizen who is suspected of drug trafficking using courier services.

The arrest took place at the Juan Santamaria International Airport when the 41-year-old man of last name Sharp intended to leave the country with destination to Denver, U.S.A.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Public Security, Sharp had last entered the country last August 22.

Sharp attempted to send two packages via courier, one containing 284 grams of cocaine and the second one 252 grams of the same drug (536 grams in total); the packages were received in an office in La Aurora, Heredia and had Denver as the destination.
