A man, native from Wisconsin, USA, was detained by the Costa Rican police on Wednesday afternoon, accused of sexually abusing his step-daughter who has a mental disability.

The foreigner was reported by his wife who is Costa Rican, apparently, the woman witnessed the moment in which the man committed the abuse, she immediately reported him and when the police detained him in the area of San Sebastián, where they reside, he was already on his way out with his suitcases.

The man of last name Snayer, remains in preventive custody and will be processed accordingly.

The sentence for sexual abuse in Costa Rica is higher when the victim is someone with a mental disability, regardless of the age of the victim.
