Vacation Time in San Jose: Fourth Art City Tour Costa Rica

The fourth Art City Tour of the year is scheduled for this Wednesday, July 11, “Vacaciones en Chepe” (Vacation in San Jose) invites locals and foreigners to get acquainted with some of the capital city’s wonders.

This is the 52nd tour of this program that first started in 2010 and has allowed over 80 thousand people to discover some of the jewels that San Jose has to offer and that often go unnoticed in the busy and congested city.

“We will enjoy the ample and live cultural options that San Jose and the surrounding areas offer. We will connect activities that will be carried out in museums, galleries, cultural centers and historical buildings in the center of San Jose, Barrio Amon, Barrio Otoya, Barrio Escalante and Sabana”, explains the release.

The tour starts at 5 p.m. and extends through 9 p.m. and can be enjoyed with any of the three modalities usually available, by bike, foot, or bus. All tours are free of charge.

Bicycle Tour: Leaves at 7 p.m. from Parque España, the tour is organized by Chepecletas and Pedalizate and does not require prior reservation.

Tour by Foot: Four different routes available to see different versions of the city, the first option leaves at 5 p.m. from Parque España and it’s a guided tour with actors of the National Cultural Center (CENAC), it requires prior reservation through [email protected] and it has limited spaces. The second route leaves at 5 p.m. from the Centro de Patrimonio (in front of the Lehmann Bookstore), and it involves a historic and architectural tour guided by historian Raul Arias, registrations can be made by email to [email protected]. A third route involves a guided tour through parks and monuments in San Jose, organized by the Tourism Office of the San Jose Municipality, it leaves at 5 p.m. from the postal office (Correos de Costa Rica) in San Jose, to reserve send an email to: [email protected]. The fourth and final route takes guests in a walk with 6 stops to enjoy and learn about the history of projects related to craft beer and mixology, it starts at 6 p.m. from the Magaly Theater, registrations can be sent to [email protected], this one is limited to people over 18 years of age.

Bus Tour: There are seven different points to catch the bus distributed to the East, Center, North and West of San Jose for the convenience of those interested. The buses take four different routes (see images) through 18 different locations.
