On Monday, September 28 for unknown reasons a pick-up truck caught fire on Route 27 Santa Ana – San Jose near the toll booths.
The incident occurred after the pick up truck had passed the toll booth, the fire started, the driver got out of the car, and the driver of a tank truck stopped to offer help, however, the truck starts rolling in reverse and out of control towards the toll booths.
The driver of the car tried to get back in the car to get the hand break, but it was not possible, luckily no other cars where hit and no one was harmed.
Firefighters arrived shortly after to handle the incident.
Despite the fire, the smoke, the chaos, and the evident danger, the toll booths continued to operate normally.
According to the Fire Department, a total of 438 vehicles have caught fire this year, the majority of them due to issues in their electric system or fuel leaks.
