Being a political realist these days is the best way to go especially if you are viewing political developments from a foreign country like Costa Rica. Many of us expats are grateful not to be living in the United States of America right now because there’s not much unity to be found back home.

Not the left, not the right and not the middle – a realist realizes the reality of President Donald J. Trump. He is here to stay until the voters send him back to his gold and marble palace in New York City. At this point in time — more than likely — this president will not be removed from office through impeachment, through indictment, the 25th Amendment or heaven forbid — assassination.

President Trump simply is America’s duly-elected certified executive officer and his board of directors are the voters, and the voters see the haters doing nothing for real Americans. A political realist works with the president that you have, maybe he’s not the one you wanted but he’s the one you got sitting in the Oval Office looking out over the dismal Washington, DC swamp. To work against him at every turn is wrong.

For all you liberal far-left socialist Democrats if you want this president out of office then vote him out in 20-months. Say goodbye to the Donald. But if you nominate old man Joe Biden to run against Mr. Trump it’s all over. President Trump stays until Jan. 20, 2025. That is the reality of a Biden presidential run.

Twice before former U.S. Sen. Biden (D-DE) ran for president. He was a single-digit candidate both times and was not nominated. What makes you think he’d do any better in 2020? He has tons of negative political baggage. However, he is a likable man who has seen terrible tragedy in his life and he is deserving of much respect, but it’s time for good old Joe to go home and stay home and enjoy what family you have left. If he decides to run for president in 2020 good old Joe is doomed to fail. He would look so silly bellowing for socialism, universal healthcare through increased taxes, sanctuary cities, open borders and all the rest of the current Democratic whacko philosophies.

If elected Biden would only be a figure head for the old establishment Democratic Party machine that President Trump is now tearing apart. The Democrats would march out President Biden to give a speech now and then. Let him travel around the world. Good Lord, Biden is 76-years old and he nowhere near compares to the stamina displayed daily by President Trump at 72.

From now until Nov. 3, 2020 the Democratic presidential candidates will all get on the bandwagon for universal, single-payer healthcare. They want to eliminate the healthcare insurance industry. They want to raise taxes across the board, cancel the Trump tax cuts and drastically increase taxes on the rich.

A political realist looks at single-payer healthcare and says “yes,” but “you have to cut the federal budget accordingly, not by raising taxes.” Entire non-essential government agencies need to be eliminated such as the U.S. Department of Education created back in the mid-70s by former President Carter. Everything the DOE does is duplicated on the state and local level. Federal education policies interfere with education. Did you ever hear a real teacher say they just loved teaching “Common Core” math?

Teachers across America are clamoring for higher pay and less interference with real teaching of the nation’s youth. Save those billions uselessly spent on the DOE. But that is just one government agency that could be given pink slips, lock the doors and put the buildings up for sale. Another is the U.S. Postal Service that loses billions every year.

The list of all U.S. government agencies, sub-agencies and offices within offices is long, long and longer. This is the face of bloated government in need of bringing back line-item veto power to President Trump that was ruled unconstitutional under former President Clinton. This power to control the federal budget was lost long ago. The federal government just keeps getting bigger and fatter as the nation’s deficit continues to explode past $22-trillion.

During the last government shutdown earlier this year some 800,000 non-essential federal government workers were laid off for a month, pay was suspended. Every one of these non-essential government jobs should be looked at. Many can be eliminated or privatized.

But finding a way to pay for single-payer healthcare by eliminating non-essential government jobs and cutting entire federal agencies like falling dominoes is not the way Democrats do business.

At last count, 13 Democrats are seeking the Democratic nomination for president. Biden is not yet on the list, but none of them know anything about reality — only more taxes and more spending.
