Manuel Jaquez, commercial cirector of low-cost airlines Volaris, announced this Thursday that the company will make of Costa Rica its Central American Hub.

According to Jaquez, the company wants to give Costa Rica an airline with local identity as it once had; from here it will open new direct flights from Costa Rica to South America, the specific destinations were not revealed, but they will include countries where currently there are no low-cost flight options available.

Currently Volaris offers flights from Costa Rica to Guatemala, El Salvador, Cancun and Mexico City, Los Angeles, New York and Washington in the United States.

The airline’s goal is to offer Costa Ricans options at a lower cost than other airlines so they can travel to different destinations.

The new routes are being defined with the help of the Minister of Tourism, María Amalia Revelo.
Volaris has its main hub in Mexico.
