Costa Rica registers 360 new cases this Friday, July 10 for a total 6,845 confirmed cases, 2110 of these have already recovered.

The country registers 26 deaths of Covid-19 positive patients. Currently, there are 128 people hospitalized, 17 of these are in the intensive care unit with ages ranging from 43 and 78 years.
President Carlos Alvarado informed during the press conference new restrictions that will apply from tomorrow, Saturday, July 11 and through Sunday, July 19, mainly in the great metropolitan area with the purpose of avoiding and limiting mobilization of the population among these:

• The entire metropolitan area is now under orange alert. (See image included with the list of counties included)
• During the weekends only Supermarkets, Convenience Stores, Pharmacies and Health Centers will be allowed to open.
• Vehicular restriction (orange alert): Weekends (this weekend and following) 5 p.m. through 5 a.m. maintain existing car plates restrictions (Saturday: odd plates allowed, Sunday: even plates allowed). Weekdays (July 13th through July 17th) 24-hour restriction, vehicles will only be allowed to transit by plate number and only to supermarkets, pharmacies, health centers:
o Monday: 1 & 2 (allowed)
o Tuesday: 3 & 4 (allowed)
o Wednesday: 5 & 6 (allowed)
o Thursday: 7 & 8 (allowed)
o Friday: 9 & 0 (allowed)

Vehicular restriction for counties in yellow alert will maintain the current vehicular restriction.

When it comes to commerce and businesses, the Minister of Planning, Pilar Garrido explained:

For counties in orange alert: Supermarkets, convenience stores, grocery stores, bakeries, butcheries, veterinary services, funeral homes, essential production services in general (agriculture, supply chains), express services (list to be updated).

For counties in yellow alert, the regulations remain as they have been at this point.

“Applying these restrictions will not make an immediate difference in the number of daily cases or the spread of the virus, but it will help us trace the virus”, explained President Alvarado, who insisted in the importance of reinforcing the sanitary measures and maintaining social distance with the mission of protecting the most vulnerable members of the communities.

As of Monday, July 20, the sanitary restrictions will go back to what the country experienced in this past week.
